The lion is the mascot of Fairfax High School.  There are two majestic lion statues in front of the beautiful rotunda entrance of the Auditorium on campus.  The auditorium and rotunda were built in 1926 and are the only 1920’s buildings left on campus.   This lion design is an homage to the lion statues, and it was created by Fairfax High School alumna, Cira Davis.

For local screen printing, we didn’t have to look far – just to P18 where Christopher Bailey sets up his impressive screen printing booth.  Chris’ eco-friendly art/fashion company, 1-Off Recycled Garment Project, prints his original designs on recycled and vintage garments.

About the Artist

Artist Cira Davis is a Fairfax High School alumna and student at UCLA.

She designed the Mid City West LA Map and the Fairfax Lion designed after the statues in front of the Rotunda on campus.

Cira is part of the creative team at Greenway Arts Alliance.

 

About the Screen Printer

Artist and screen printer Christopher Bailey is the entrepreneur behind the 1-Off Recycled Garment Project.   Christopher Bailey is an upcycling artist that specializes in taking second hand garments and other objects and turning them into 1/1 art pieces.

Each garment has a past just like us and each one is one of a kind just like us. Don’t wait until next time you can afford the LAST ONE LEFT.

 

The Fairfax Love Collection is a collaboration with Greenway Arts Alliance and Artists who are Fairfax High School alumni.

Items labeled with this stamp are fundraising products where the proceeds go directly to the current Fairfax High School Student Activities Budget.  Participating alumni are paid up front for their artwork, so it’s a win for everyone!
