1:15 PM to 4:15 PM – MTP Jazz BandThe MTP Jazz Band is actually two separate groups who perform on alternate Sundays. This week will feature the Carl Tassi Trio. The Carl Tassi Trio has performed at the market since 1998. The group currently consists of singing jazz drummer Carl Tassi, Cengiz Yaltkaya on keyboards, and Morrow Fleet on bass. With his Panama hat and West Coast cool, Carl has been described as “a little bit of Moses Allison with Chet Baker and Annie Ross” thrown in the mix. The Paul DiBlasi Trio performs straight-ahead jazz from the 1950s and 1960s (piano, bass, drums), often featuring guest musicians. Paul has performed at the Fairfax flea market since 2003.
