02 Nov Greenway Arts & Arts:Earth Partnership Team Up For Sustainability in Los Angeles
The Arts:Earth Partnership launched the Los Angeles Arts Sustainability Tour (LAAST) at Electric Lodge in Venice, CA on Saturday, August 9th, 2014, in order to harness the power of the arts sector to help create healthier, happier and more sustainable communities. The second tour stop is taking place at our theater, the Greenway Court Theatre in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday, November 8th, 2014.
LAAST is designed to be a fun, informative, neighborhood-based event featuring art, information and sustainable education. At each tour stop LAAST will offer attendees programs and information, including brief expert presentations on topics such as Climate Change (presented by a Nasa Scientist), the new Los Angeles City Sustainability Plan, Energy Efficiency, Being Water-Wise, Understanding Your Utility Bill and Multi-Modal Transportation (Getting around town without a car!).
Attendees will learn how to save money by making smart choices that reduce consumption and open access to rebates and services offered by L.A. DWP and the City of Los Angeles. The LAAST tour is the first stop to making healthier choices and will teach attendees how going green can be easier and more affordable at home and work.
In addition to the expert presentations, the event will feature a light breakfast, live entertainment, kids activities, compost pick-up, e-waste, bike valet and free sustainable giveaways such as aerators, shower heads, and native seed packets. Best of all, it’s FREE!
It is only fitting that Los Angeles as the “Creative Capitol of the World” is now the first city in the country with a state recognized green business certification program specifically designed for the Arts & Cultural Sector. Arts: Earth Partnership was recently awarded 90K as an “At-Large L.A. DWP Community Partner” in order to further this mission.
