CicLAvia Melrose: Thank You!

CicLAvia Melrose 2024

On Sunday, February 25th, CicLAvia came to Melrose for the first time and celebrated their 50th event! Greenway Arts Alliance worked alongside CicLAvia to bring great programming to a car-free Melrose Avenue and welcome so many new faces to the Trading Post. Watch our recap video here.

Greenway co-founder Whitney Weston with District 13 City Council Representative Hugo Soto-Martinez, Assembly Democratic Caucus Chair Rick Chavez Zbur, and Congressional Candidate Nick Melvoin.

CicLAvia catalyzes vibrant public spaces, active transportation and good health through car-free street events that transform city streets into public parks! MTP was adjacent to CicLAvia Melrose’s Fairfax Hub and helped program the Hub Stage throughout the day.

We kicked off the festivities with a performance from the Fairfax High School Dance Company, who just won first place in the Universal Studios Sharp Competition. The student dancers presented two energetic numbers to an enthusiastic audience. We then brought Intermission, our yoga and soundbath collaboration with Jasmine Galindo of Cranes Studio, to the Fairfax Hub Stage. The class was taught by yoga instructor Shauna and sound healer Dr. Kischa. Intermission also took place at the Greenway Amphitheater at its usual time after the CicLAvia session.

Queen’s Best Stumpy Dog Rescue joined us for the day with an adorable corgi parade along Melrose Avenue and throughout the market.

Melrose / Fairfax District Field Deputy Thao Tran and her corgi, Kobe!

The Rollettes dance team performed two spirited dance numbers and then did an interactive dance lesson with the CicLAvia crowd.

Afterward, MTP favorite Sydney Raneé and her band got the crowd grooving with a 90 minute set. DJ Lush Bunny closed out the day with a mix of upbeat dance music.

All the while, team members from MTP as well as Greenway Court Theatre educated CicLAvia participants about Greenway Arts programming!

Thank you for an unforgettable day and to everyone who made the event possible!
