21 Oct Dog-Focused Local Vendors at Melrose Trading Post!
Our 4th Annual Dog Costume Contest & Parade is mere days away, and this year we are looking forward to a show that will be our biggest yet! You can discover everything about this Sunday’s itinerary, sponsors, prizes, judges, and more at our Contest Page.
This week, we wanted to spotlight some of our regular Melrose Trading Post vendors who cater to LA’s dog lovers, many of whom will be joining us this Sunday as sponsors of the event alongside the local small businesses who are supporting us this year.
1. Rhinestone Master Creations

Ronald and Greg of Rhinestone Master Creations hail from the pageant world and design bedazzled luxury pet accessories for dogs and cats who desire a little extra shine! Their brand has sponsored the contest since its inception in 2022, and this is also Ronald’s fourth year serving as one of the judges. A gift certificate worth $150 is up for grabs as part of the Best In Show prize, and they will be on site this Sunday for everyone to shop their beautiful pieces.

2. Grant Merritt & A Puppy’s Tale
Grant Merritt is a local author who created A Puppy’s Tale in memory of his beloved dog Achilles. It is a heartwarming children’s book for dog lovers ages 4 and up, sharing the joys of love, friendship, and life’s most cherished moments. The award-winning illustrated story has been previously featured as part of our Story Time in the Garden series with Eclectuals, and copies of it will be awarded as part of the Best In Show, Best Human-Dog Duo, and Best Float/Wagon Costume prizes.

3. Nuzzle Pet
Nuzzle Pet is a pet accessory and clothing boutique, with a brick and mortar location in the DTLA Arts District. Owners Ada & Taylor have been sponsors of the Costume Contest year after year, and this year have supplied us with a bundle of merchandise to distribute in our participant goodie bags!

4. Bark Bodega
Bark Bodega offers a curated selection of dog treats, toys, and essentials for happy pups and their owners. While their mobile pet bakery will not be on campus this Sunday, you can catch Bark Bodega at MTP in the future! Be sure to bring your dog so they can enjoy an adorable pup cup or baked treat at the market.

5. Gear Up Creations Custom Laser Engraving
Tom of Gear Up Creations can customize nearly anything for you at MTP with his fascinating laser engraving machine. One of his most popular products are custom dog tags known as the Pet Tag Pro, which allow you to secure your furry friend with unique QR codes containing vital information in case they get lost. Tom will be supplying our participants with laser-engraved coasters as part of this year’s goodie bags, commemorating the 4th Annual Contest & Parade!
