Greenway Staff Picks – with Christina

Meet Christina, the Director of Student Programs at Greenway Institute for the Arts!

Did you know that proceeds from your Melrose Trading Post Admission actually help fund arts education programming for Fairfax High School and LAUSD students? Greenway Arts Alliance provides free musical theatre, dance, literacy, and work-study programs at Greenway Institute for the Arts, and MTP is a huge part of what makes that possible.

Christina is the Director of Student Programs at GIA, and she is often at the market on Sundays to support our student staff on the MTP Operations Team. Here are Christina’s favorite vendors at the Trading Post:

This is our Greenway Staff Picks Column, where staff from across the three departments of Greenway Arts Alliance – including the Melrose Trading Post staff as well as team members from Greenway Court Theatre and Greenway Institute for the Arts – highlight their favorite vendors in the market!

  1. Il Golfo Di Napoli

Il Golfo Di Napoli serve Neopolitan Style Pizza that they craft before your eyes!  Find them on Sundays in the MTP food court.

“They sell the best pizza ever. I’m really into spicy food, so the Diavola [pizza] just has that perfect kick… they’re my go-to. Highly recommend going to them if you have never had them before.”

2. Xochitl’s Jewelry & Accessories

Xochitl sets up in R32-33 every Sunday with a bounty of beautiful jewelry and accessories to explore.

“She sells the cutest jewelry. I’m actually wearing one of her pieces today…it’s [a ring] like a fidget spinner. I play with that 24/7 like I literally wear it every single day because it’s just so fun. She always has really great deals and she’s just such a sweet person.”

3.Desert Moon

Vanessa’s creates and curates a revolving roster of the trendiest fashion accessories of the moment at her signature pink booth. Whether you want a custom charm bracelet, the perfect festival statement piece, an artistic keychain, or a “lafufu” – she’s got you.

“Their stuff really fits my aesthetic. I’ve gotten so much great use out of the accessories that me and my friends have gotten there. Most recently, I wore one of her hats to go see Beyonce for my Cowboy Carter psychedelic cowgirl vibe that I had for the concert. It was just the perfect touch to my outfit.”

Christina sports a hat from Desert Moon at Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter concert!
