Intermission Yoga + Sound Bath @ MTP

Intermission at the Melrose Trading Post

Jasmine Galindo (@jazzfullofzen) of Intermission is a Melrose Trading Post vendor with her partner Bryan and their company, Cranes.  Jasmine approached the Greenway team about bringing her wellness classes to MTP, and we loved her mission and focus on connecting community members.   On February 26th, Jasmine launched the first Yoga + Sound Bath in the Rotunda at Fairfax.

The all-level yoga class was lead by Chelsea Gabrielle (@coilsandfoilsyoga), and the relaxing Sound Bath was lead by Dr. Kischa (@themindmasseuse).  Jasmine brought tea and fruit for reflecting and hanging out after the class.   The space was beautiful, especially during the sound bath.  Built in the 1930’s, the rotunda and auditorium are the only original buildings left at Fairfax High School.  The rotunda’s acoustics make it a magnificent space for the crystal singing bowls.  Experience the relaxation in the next session of this monthly series, on the fourth Sunday of each month.

A monthly yoga + sound bath rest and reset session on the fourth Sunday of each month.

Melrose Trading Post entry and parking are included with the class tickets.

A word from Jasmine Galindo, creator of Intermission:

Hi hello. My name is Jasmine, I am a Latina, first time mother, small business owner, vendor at the trading post.

Intermission is a moment of rest and reset dedicated towards spreading mental health awareness. When I created the class I was experiencing severe postpartum anxiety and depression. Through conversation and Instagram polls on my stories I realized that I wanted to create a class for womxn struggling with mental health.

The special part about bringing intermission to MTP is that I will offer gender neutral classes and open up the space to honor our men who also struggle with mental health issues. It is something that I feel very strongly about as my partner and I both experienced postpartum together. I’ve learned that dedicating time to self through movement, sound, and community does wonders for our mental, emotional, and physical health. So join us this month as we continue the work towards healing and showing ourselves grace in the process.
