Artist & debut author Phillip Gladokov shares his research and love of the birch tree and how it inspired his recent work, “Story of the Sun,” a stop motion animation made entirely from bark. In addition to the booktalk, Phillip will also preview his short with the same name “Story of the Sun”.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: PHILLIP GLADKOV Phillip Gladkov is a multidisciplinary artist from in New York living in Los Angeles, California. Gladkov’s work explores stories of humans our relationships with the natural world through film., animation., writing., and visual art. ABOUT THE MODERATOR: JASON E.C. WRIGHT Jason E.C. Wright is an educator, design researcher, Founder and Director at Burntsienna Research Society. Burntsienna has facilitated programming for ARCANA Books, Berluti, The Huntington, LINE Hotel, Soho Warehouse and more. Wright has instructed at FIDM, OTIS, moderated for AIGA, LA Design Festival, and MOCA, and has served on the board of the LA Design Festival.
