Ringing in the Lunar New Year with Paper or Plastic Co!
Last Sunday our friends at Paper or Plastic Co. brought to life a vibrant community fundraiser at the Melrose Trading Post in honor of the Lunar New Year. The fundraiser raised money for families in need from the Eaton Fire.
Paper or Plastic Co. launched their capsule collection, “Love Thy Neighbor,” which also serves as an ongoing fundraiser for fire relief.
The team at Paper or Plastic brought the Los Angeles Ken Send Keng Lion Dancers to ring in the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake), and to bring good luck to everyone present, and to the donations that were collected.
The MTP crowd stopped and watched in awe of the powerful dancers and drummers. Their beautiful performance brought smiles and good luck to the market!
After each lion dance, Patrons were asked to contribute donations in these red envelopes. At Lunar New Year, it’s tradition to give the gift of a bright, beautiful red envelope filled with money to your friends and family to symbolize good wishes and luck for the new year ahead. The red color symbolizes good luck and prosperity in Chinese (and other East Asian) cultures.
If you were at MTP on Sunday, and you contributed to the Lunar New Year Fire Relief Fundraiser by Paper or Plastic Co – THANK YOU!
