25 Mar MFW Runway Recap!
Our runway show at Melrose Trading Post in celebration of Melrose Fashion Week was beyond our wildest dreams!
We worked with so many talented designers, creatives, models, and Greenway team members to make this show happen, and are so proud of how our MTP community came together to highlight local and sustainable fashion in LA.
The MTP community was in every part of this runway. Most of the brands and designers showcased are also Melrose Trading Post vendors and their creations are available to shop in the market on Sunday. We worked with a combination of professional and first time models – some of whom were even patrons recruited by our team in the market! Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to put on this production.

Sustainable Fashion at MTP: Group Show
Our opening show focused on Melrose Trading Post vendors who work with vintage and upcycled materials:
1. I AM MUSE x Vida Kush
Grecia Palma of I AM MUSE SHOP put together five looks of curated thrifted and re-worked garments, with accessories by fellow vendor Vida Kush. Grecia modeled in the show alongside her kids!
2. ETERNAL RETURN
Bree and Mellow spotlighted four brand new outfits in their collection, made from upcycled materials utilizing cut-and-sew and screenprinting.
3. YOUR MOM’S CLOSETT
This was designer Anthony Villagrana’s first runway show for his brand, Your Mom’s Closett. Anthony’s refined streetwear pieces are also created through a mixture of sustainable repurposing techniques.
4. PROTRUDING MONKEY
Erika Byrd crafts trendy garments entirely from old socks! Erika and her family members modeled three high fashion looks sewn from socks on the MFW runway, establishing the boundless potential of recycled materials.
5. THREADHAUS CO
Manny Jackson, the mastermind behind ThreadHaus Co, is a prodigious designer who develops pieces that are not only stylish, but also multi-functional and reversible! His group of models doubled as magicians and demonstrated all of the capabilities of each garment, like turning a jacket inside-out to reveal a new design, or transforming a duffel bag into a sleeping bag. Manny explained that these multi-functional works of art were inspired by LA’s unhoused community.
Youth Showcase
1. GREENWAY FAIRFAX DANCE COMPANY
The Greenway Fairfax Dance Company, comprised of student dancers from Fairfax High School in partnership with Greenway Institute for the Arts, opened the Youth Showcase portion of Melrose Fashion Week. The team performed a choreographed number to RuPaul’s “Supermodel.”
2. SAGE HILLS HIGH SCHOOL REIMAGINED CLUB RUNWAY
The Reimagined Fashion Club at Sage Hills High School teach students how to transform pieces of donated clothing to give them a second life. They also sell their pieces to fundraise for Remake World, a non-profit tackling climate and social justice issues in the fashion industry. The club has been featured in Teen Vogue and sold at Melrose Trading Post before last year, and at Melrose Fashion Week, four of their gifted student designers walked the runway as part of our Youth Showcase.
